What Makes an Artwork Timeless?

Une œuvre devient intemporelle lorsqu’elle exprime des émotions, des idées ou des expériences humaines universelles qui résonnent à travers les générations. Un artiste peut chercher à créer cette portée universelle par son sujet, sa profondeur et son authenticité. Cependant, c’est finalement le temps et la manière dont les publics successifs s’approprient l’œuvre qui déterminent son caractère intemporel.

For me, a timeless artwork is not one that follows trends, but one that continues to evoke emotion across generations. As an architect, I believe that a strong foundation of composition, harmony and balance allows a work to stand the test of time. As a watercolour artist, I know that light, transparency and sincerity cannot be imitated. An artist can intentionally strive to create such a work through skill, authenticity and meaningful expression, but only time and future audiences can determine whether it truly becomes timeless.
